AT&T recently began selling the Nokia Lumia 900 with the Windows Phone 7 operating system for a competitive $99.99 price. Casio’s New iOS App Sends Data Using Color Instead Of Words

Japan’s Casio has unveiled an experimental app for the iPhone and iPad that encodes and sends data using colors. The company’s “PicapiCamera” app presents a set of icons to the user, which can be selected along with a short message to be sent. Once these are chosen, the app displays a multihued blinking dot on screen — an encoding of the data using visible colors. A separate device can then scan in multiple dots through its camera using the same app. In the picture taken...

However, radiation from these impacts is unlikely to cause cancer, investigators added. Dark matter is one of the greatest scientific mysteries of our time — an invisible substance thought to make up five-sixths of all matter in the universe. Scientists think it might be composed of things called weakly...

First BlackBerry 10 Smartphone Rumored To Debut in October

Reports are circulating that the first BlackBerry 10 smartphone will be announced by mid-August and will make its debut in October, somewhat earlier than expected. An October launch would give Research in Motion several weeks’ advantage with holiday sales, which are much needed by RIM, especially in North American markets. Sibling Star May Have More Planets Than Our Sun

A star already known to host five alien planets may actually be home to a whopping nine full-fledged worlds – a planetary arrangement that, if confirmed, would outnumber our own solar system and set a new record for the most populated system of extrasolar planets yet found. The sun-like star, called HD 10180, is located approximately 127 light-years away from Earth. In a previous study that was published in August 2010, astronomers identified five confirmed alien worlds and two planetary candidates. Now...

Will Valve Go Open Platform?

Valve says they are not working on a platform of their own, they do seem to want to promote an open platform for both the living-room and mobile space. It would now seem that Valve is developing this “open platform” to be a blueprint for manufacturers in both the living-room and mobile space. Moving in this direction would eliminate the problems of proprietary hardware; but it is unknown if manufacturers would actually view this as a good thing or not. It seems to us that eliminating the hardware...

Sprint Reaffirms Commitment To Unlimited Data Plan

Sprint said that it plans to stay the course with unlimited data plans for its smartphones — and that policy apparently will apply even if the next iPhone runs over the 4G LTE networks, which delivers data to users much faster than 3G networks. Sprint CEO Dan Hesse on Tuesday told CNET: “I’m not anticipating the unlimited plan would change by that point [when the next iPhone ships]. That’s our distinctive differentiator.” Asked to confirm what Hesse said and whether...
