New Stars Shine In An Over The Hill Galaxy

A galaxy thought to be over the hill is apparently still hard at work creating baby stars, a new study finds. Photos taken by the Hubble Space Telescope show the core of an elliptical galaxy known as NGC 4150,  which was thought to be beyond its fertile years for star formation, awash in streamers of dust, gas and clumps of young, blue stars that are significantly less than 1 billion years old. BlackBerry App World Breaks 15,000 Apps Milestone

RIM continues to fight an uphill battle to reach the app numbers of its competitors,mainly Apple and Google, but it appears to be making good progress. The store launched in March 2009 and reached the 10,000 app mark in early September of this year.  More impressive is the fact that App World has added 5,000 apps in the last 13 or 14 weeks. PC makers beware. The Apple iPad and other tablet devices are piquing the interest of more and more consumers and chipping away at your business. Nintendo released sales data and noted they sold 1.5 million gaming devices over the Black Friday Holiday period. Nintendo noted strong sales of the DS handhelds, with 900,000 units being purchased, while the Wii console sold 600,000 units. The numbers are finally trickling in for last week’s Black Friday and it appears as if Amazon is sitting pretty. Online researcher comScore reported  that U.S. online shoppers spent $648 million on Black Friday alone. Black Friday, which is the day after Thanksgiving, is the official kickoff to the holiday shopping season. Just when we were all wondering what to do with all that excess methane gas, scientists at the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) have uncovered a way to make methane-powered laptops commercially viable.
